Rodrigo y Gabriela y Breaking Bad

Last night I started watching the DVDs of the TV series Breaking Bad.

Everything about it is well executed. The cinematography and color are beautiful, the acting is top notch, and the slow crank of anxiety and adrenaline kept me hooked.

The soundtrack is also great, but they don't give any of the artists credit in the end credits. The first episode contains one of my favorite instrumental songs, "Tamacun", by the guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela.

You can watch a live performance of the song here.

Coign of Vantage

Coign of Vantage

I got sucked in and lost a bit of time playing this game.

It's called "Coign of Vantage" from Bobblebrook Games. (I had to look it up to see if it was English. It is, and it means "an advantageous position for observation or action")

To play, you rotate a 3D field of floating pixels until they line up and form a 2d image. In each level, you must make your pixel field match the target image in the upper right.

It's really easy to get into, and the presentation is great.

Water Drawing / Marbled Paper

Found this video today. It got me thinking about marbled paper and cloth.

Here is the wikipedia entry for marbled paper. It goes over the procedure and history, and contains some beautiful examples.

Here is another example that you can zoom in on.
